6 carrots

1 leek

1 onion

2 cloves of garlic (sliced)

4 potatoes

1 bowl of peas

1 green pepper

1 leaf of bay

½ glass of white wine

1 tablespoon of paprika

Salt and pepper

Olive oil



A pressure cooker

Wooden spoon for stirring



Every time you add an ingredient, you should be adding the salt and spices this ingredient requires.  It is better than adding the whole amount of them at the beginning or at the end.



  • Cut the vegetables on a cutting board.
  • These are: the onion into squares, the garlic into slices, the pepper into squares too, the leek, the carrots and the potatoes.
  • Try not to cut them down into too small pieces because anything like that will disappear during the cooking process. It is better to find the chunks of veggies to eat with the chicken.
  • Joint the chicken into eight or sixteen parts. (or ask your poulterer to do it for you)


  • Put the oil into the cooker and wait until is hot.
  • Get the chicken parts in it and add a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir.

 (We do this to seal the chicken and to keep the moisture in it)

  • When the chicken isn’t raw anymore, but not completely cooked, add the veggies and a pinch of salt. Stir and wait a minute. 


  1. Add the potatoes and a pinch of salt.
  2. Add the paprika and stir.
  3. Add the peas.
  4. Add the wine and leave it for a minute.
  5. Add water until you “almost” cover the ingredients.

 Close the cooker, set the heat to medium-low.

 When the pressure cooker begins to release steam, let it stew for 10-15 minutes, open it and try for the chicken to be cooked. Then serve.

We all will agree that all meals taste better when cooked the traditional slow way. Like a good chicken stew.

Unfortunately, these days are hectic for most of us and we just don’t have the time to cook. Thing is, that we must not forget to eat properly just because our time is short.

With this recipe you will be feeding a crowd in no time. Besides, it is as healthy as it can be and low fat.

For this recipe, we are going to use a pressure cooker. This will only affect the stewing timing.

If you prefer to use a slow cooker add 1hour to it.

This recipe admits any king of veggies to it but we kept it simple here.
